Bye bye, Wake Up? Just 29,000 metro viewers yesterday — the lowest yet — and nearly half the opening 52,000. Studio 10 had 41,000 metro viewers against 63,000 on the opening day. The 29,000 was a bad figure for the 2012 Ten flop, Breakfast, not the $12 million Wake Up. Wake Up is trending lower and is now worse than Breakfast was last year. Studio 10 is doing better (it should be the other way round) and is in front of 2012’s morning disaster called The Talk.

It wasn’t good and from what I saw this morning, the program is not travelling well — the hosts are brittle, nervy and are losing confidence, and some of the stunts are stupid (e.g. a show biz reporter faking a cramp in an interview. Who thought up that drivel?).

It was Seven’s night in prime time in metro and regional markets because Beauty and The Geek Australia  (1.611 million national/ 1.089 million metro/ 522,000 regional viewers) was the last rubbishy program standing after Big Brother ended with a whimper on Wednesday night. None of the other channels had strong programming last night, except Redfern Now on ABC1, which averaged 814,000 national/ 529,000 metro/ 285,000 regional viewers. They positively detest the program in Brisbane, where just 59,000 watched (more watched in the rest of Queensland — 60,000) — and Ten finished third instead of the ABC, which was third in all other markets.

The ABC’s Catalyst program (1.136 million national/734,000 metro/ 402,000 regional viewers) did a good report on skin rejuvenation techniques — more science than similar reports on programs like Today Tonight and A Current Affair, and more believable.
