Seven’s night, easily. Part two of INXS: Never Tear Us Apart was better than part one, but My Kitchen Rules nudged in front to top the most-watched list. Sunday Night’s second part of the investigation of a well known Sydney murder story was third. INXS: Never Tear Us Apart had 2.579 million national / 1.768,000 metro/ 811,000 regional viewers. It was down around 200,000 or so viewers from part one last week.

Nine’s The Block did very well (best five metro market audience so far with 1.965 million national and 1.361 million metro viewers), but was overpowered by My Kitchen Rules. In the end Seven won metro and regional markets easily and has won the week already, both overall and in the important demos. My Kitchen Rules simply dominated the night with million 2.692 million national/ 1.863 million metro/ 819,000 regional viewers. Ten’s So You Think You Can Dance Australia was blown away 313,000 in metro markets — 407,000 nationally and just 94,000 in regional markets. That’s appalling.

Ten’s main channel was again beaten in Brisbane and Adelaide last night by Ten’s coverage of the Games in HD on its ONE digital channel. It happened Sunday night a week ago and on two other nights. In fact Ten’s main channel, with a mix of the Games and So You Think You Can Dance Australia was just beaten by ABC1 in metro markets with 9.5 to 9.4%. In regional markets though, ABC1 easily beat Ten’s main channel with 9.6% to Ten’s 6.6%. And ONE with 7.6% also had more viewers than Ten’s main channel. Oops.

In the morning ABC 1’s Insiders again did well with 274,000 metro viewers on ABC1 and News 24. Financial Review Sunday returned on Nine with low numbers (114,000 metro viewers), which was to be expected. And Weekend Today snuck in front of Weekend Sunrise in metro markets and won 310,000 to 305,000. But nationally, Weekend Sunrise had more viewers than Weekend Today.

On Pay TV, the first cricket test from South Africa topped the ratings with more than 300,000 viewers nationally for the first session on Friday and Saturday nights. The first Auckland Nines for the NRL averaged 240,000 yesterday and was the most watched audience.

Seven won last week nationally and in metro and regional markets. Nine says it won the 6-7.30 battle in metro markets. Seven was stronger nationally. Ten beat the ABC, thanks to the Winter Games coverage, which ends this week. Seven had the top Seven programs nationally last week.
