A much easier night for Seven, after the surprise from Nine and its very much wanted Love Child on Monday night. My Kitchen Rules again squashed the opposition. Seven easily won metro and regional markets.  My Kitchen Rules averaged 2.781 million national/1.883 million metro/ 898,000 regional viewers. Only Nine’s episode of The Block was vaguely in the hunt with 1.640 million national/1.149 million metro/ 491,000 regional viewers. But that was over 1.1 million viewers short of My Kitchen Rules.

But Seven didn’t have it all its way. A Current Affair topped Home and Away in metro markets at 7pm (But Home and Away did better nationally). At 6-7 pm Nine News and Nine News 6.30 both gave Nine solid wins over Seven News and Seven News/Today Tonight (Seven can’t let go, can it?) in metro markets, especially in Sydney and Melbourne (where Nine won at 6pm with 407,000 viewers to Seven News 255,000). Seven‘s Winners & Losers hung on to more of the audience of My Kitchen Rules last night and lifted from last week’s weakness to average 1.570 million national/1.041 million metro/ 529,000 regional viewers. That saw it finish in front of The Big Bang Theory on Nine.

Ten’s main channel was swamped by Seven. Nine and ABC 1 which was an easy winner in the battle for third spot. Viewers still stuck with the HD coverage of the Winter Games on ONE, which boosted Ten’s overall share past that of the ABC But Ten’s main channel could only manage a metro share of 9.8%, ABC 1 had a share of 12.1%. The ABC beat Ten narrowly in regional markets for third spot overall, and won big in the main channels, replicating the metro result. The Biggest Loser and So You think You Can Dance Australia are dead weights in the network’s schedule until they finish, which is a pity for the new programming and viewers.
