It was a night when the national TV market splintered between metro and regionals. It should have seen The Voice sweep all before it, and although it did in metro markets, Seven’s House Rules did a lot better in the regions, as did Sunday Night, A Place to Call Home and Seven News.

So it was Nine’s night in metro markets (but not Perth), thanks to The Voice. Seven was second, with House Rules again doing well. Ten managed third thanks to a reasonable night with MasterChef Australia and the Modern Family marriage, with the ABC bringing up the rear. But in the regionals, Seven was a close winner overall and in the main channels, with the ABC third and Ten fourth. Thanks to The Voice, Nine won the demos in both. The Voice had 2.541 million national / 1.865 million metro / 676,000 regional viewers. House Rules had 2.020 million national / 1.265 million metro / 755,000 regional viewers. Masterchef had 1.279 million national / 948,000 metro / 331,000 regional viewers.

The Bolt Report had a better day with improved figures for the 10am live broadcast and the 4pm repeat, bringing in a total of 406,000 viewers for the two broadcasts. Insiders on ABC1 had a stronger morning with 506,000 national viewers for the live broadcasts at on ABC1 and News 24.
