A big night for Seven with the House Rules reveal episode winning the night and powering the network to a win. In fact, going on last night’s figures The Voice is now only a night-winning hit in Sydney and Melbourne. Seven easily won Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and the regionals. The Voice is slowly being marginalised by House Rules and Revenge, even though it’s a faded hit, is helping Seven later on Monday nights.  House Rules ended with 2.666 million national/ 1.651 million metro/ 1.015 million regional viewers, while The Voice managed 2.135 million national/ 1.575 million metro/ 560,000 regional viewers. The viewing tastes of metro and regional viewers can be seen in those figures. Seven is capitalising on that success by calling for entrants in the 2015 series from today.

As a sign of Nine’s desperation to help arrest the slide it ran The Voice and then it started a repeat of The Big Bang Theory, which won the slot. That wasn’t enough. House Rules ended at 9.15 whenRevenge started. House Rules still won the 7.30 time slot, narrowly in metro markets and by a big margin in the regions and in Brisbane (100,000 viewers), Adelaide (18,000) and Perth (136,000).

Ten had a rotten night. Its main channel share of 9.5% was well beaten by ABC1 (12.2%) in the metros, and in the regions, it fell to just 6.3%, close to all time lows visited earlier in the year. MasterChef Australia just doesn’t rate in the regions, and it ain’t a winner in the metros most nights. It had 994,000 national/ 743,000 metro/ 251,000 regional viewers last night.

At 6pm though, more bad news for Seven with Nine News winning Sydney by 149,000, Melbourne by 137,000 and Adelaide by 17,000. But in the morning Seven’s Sunrise won the metros with 342,000 and Nine’s Today lurched downwards, again, to average 289,000. Sunrise won nationally by around 130,000 viewers, again.Ten’s struggling Studio 10 averaged 42,000. Not good enough.
