Seven’s night in metro and regional areas, easily, as House Rules’ final house reveal and then the first ejection dominated viewing across the country. The Voice was reduced to a Sydney program last night where it powered Nine to a convincing win in that market, but elsewhere House Rules and Seven dominated, helped by Revenge’s final episode of this series.

In fact The Voice took a terrific whacking from House Rules which had a winning margin nationally of a huge 873,000 viewers, including 368,000 in the metros. House Rules had 2.842 million national/ 1.793 million metro/ 1.049 million regional viewers. The Voice had 1.969 million national/ 1.425 million metro/ 544,000 regional viewers. The audience loss would be worrying Nine management now. Even though the reveal episode of House Rules is a weekly one off, the fact that The Voice could only lift Nine to a win in Sydney (it was Sydney and Melbourne the week before) means the series is losing its cred with viewers. When it started in 2012 it was a gigantic national hit. It lost a little ground last year and this year has fallen further and further behind as its popularity has waned, especially outside of the southeastern areas of the country.

Nine won Sunday night with The Voice doing well, but only in Sydney and Melbourne. House Rules and Sunday Night stood out for Seven which finished second, with Ten third overall and the ABC fourth. ABC1 though had more viewers than Ten’s main channel, a situation repeated last night. On House Rules last night the Tasmanian “nasties” got their comeuppance by being ejected. Next week the reveal night is Wednesday.
