Seven’s night in another overwhelming win led by House Rules. Nine ran stone dead — two repeats of The Big Bang Theory and the finale of the appalling When Love Comes To Town (the viewers depart). Ten easily won third spot with the ABC a distant fourth. So dead was Nine’s line up that Ten’s main channel offering beat Nine’s in Adelaide and Perth. Nine knows that a decision night (elimination) or reveal episode on House Rules is all but impossible to top, especially with The Voice cut back to one episode a week. In fact, Seven had big wins in both the metros and regional markets, thanks to Nine’s strategy of not contesting the evening. Ten was a solid third in both and the ABC a weak fourth. It was the second big victory by Seven this week.
At 6pm Nine News had another solid win, thanks to big winning margins in Sydney (113,000) and Melbourne (94,000). Seven News won Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. In the morning Nine’s Today had another less than stellar morning with yet another sub-300,000 metro audience. That was nothing to write home about. Seven’s Sunrise was on 351,000.
MasterChef Australia failed to get to the million viewer mark in the metros, but the ageing Ten stalwart managed to average 1.315 million nationally (including 969,000 metro and 349,000 regional viewers) and was the sixth most watched program nationally (thanks to Nine running dead). Seven’s Winners & Losers managed 1.31 million national/ 832,000 metro/ 481,000 regional viewers. Like so many local dramas this year, it’s having trouble reaching (let alone topping) the million viewer mark.
