Nine’s night in a night of mostly weak offerings. MasterChef Australia did well for Ten, second nationally and more than a million metro viewers (1.439 million nationally/ 1.059 million metro/ 380,000 regional viewers), which it should have done anyway with House Rules out of Seven’s line up. But it was MasterChef Australia’s highest finish nationally this season behind Nine News.

Nine’s Today again failed to get 300,000 metro viewers with just 284,000, Sunrise did with 330,000 (and Sunrise continues to win nationally thanks to a big margin in regional areas). But Nine News again won the east coast at 6pm with a margins of 111,000 in Sydney; 69,000 in Melbourne and 21,000 in Brisbane. Nine’s margins in Sydney have risen in recent weeks, but have narrowed in Melbourne which was a real black hole earlier this year and for all of 2013 for Seven.

The Checkout (ABC1 at 8pm) averaged 1.067 million national/ 730,000 metro/ 364,000 regional viewers. The Time of Our Lives returned to ABC1 on Thursdays at 8.30 pm and averaged a reasonable 886,000 national/ 623,000 metro/ 263,000 regional viewers.
