It’s been another fun Fanta-soaked morning of celebration at Ten — MasterChef Australia and Offspring helped the network beat Nine into second (and a distant second) behind Seven last night in the metros in its strongest result for yonks. But in the regions it was more of the same old – third behind Seven and Nine. But for Ten, the news wasn’t good for Family Feud — it lost viewers last night, falling 8% to 848,000 viewers. Not a good look.
Seven News copped another whacking from Nine News by a huge 136,000 in Sydney, but in the morning, Today’s brief time above 300,000 metro viewers on Tuesday vanished as the audience slipped to just 249,000. Sunrise’s audience also slid to 319,000 metro viewers. Seven won the night overall in All people because its second-tier programs (Highway Patrol, Criminal Minds etc) were solid.
And heard around the traps: Is Seven is looking for a new, low cost game show to replace the killed off Deal or No Deal? Independent producers have been approached. Wheel of Fortune, anyone? Sale of the Century, Jeopardy? Seven seems to want to keep its own format, Million Dollar Minute at 5.30 pm, which is a good idea but boringly hosted. There’s also talk Seven is planning a return to the TV screen for Kerri-Anne Kennerley!
