Well, it wasn’t a strong the second night for the new series of The Meat Market (aka The Bachelor) which struggled to hold Wednesday night’s return first episode figures. Last night it had 791,000 national/ 594,000 metro/ 197,000 regional viewers. On Wednesday night it had 888,000 national/ 692,000 metro/ 196,000 regional viewers. Yes, Thursday night audiences are lower than Wednesdays, but the overall trend looks down. Next Wednesday will give us a better idea.
Seven won metro and regional markets from Nine and then Ten, which was again weaker in the regions (as is now normal). Ten’s Commonwealth Games coverage on ONE and Ten helped hold up the network. From next Tuesday it flies without that support …
And stealthily, Ten’s Studio 10 rose to 88,000 metro viewers yesterday morning from 8.30am — 3,000 less than Nine’s more established Mornings and the highest ever audience for Studio 10. But let’s see how it goes without the lead in of Ten’s morning games coverage. Seven’s morning leader, The Morning Show was well in front with 166,000 metro viewers yesterday. Sunrise again beat Today in metro markets, 327,000 to 263,000, even if Today won Sydney.They are national programs.

Losers: Ten’s winning streak is fraying, as anyone who watched The Bachelor last night can see. The Bachelor reminds me of a tethered goat or some kind of bait — for ratings, not love. Still, they are all grown ups. The pity is that they, like the Doomsday Preppers on 7TWO are wasting valuable TV time and that of viewers.Metro news and current affairs:
