Seven’s night in metro and regional markets overall and in the main channels in the metros. It was yet another night where the offerings underwhelmed the audience. Ten was third in the metros, but sank to fourth in the regions. In fact’s Ten’s main channel share (where most viewing takes place) fell from a sort of solid 12.6% in the metros to a weak 8.4% in the regionals.

The ABC’s new programs,Utopia  and Reality Check did not have a good night with viewers. Utopia had 838,000 national/ 778,000 metro/ 282,000 regional viewers last night. Compare that with its debut audience of 1.060 million national/ 778,000 metro/ 282,000 regional viewers. Likewise, look at Reality Check’s 558,000 national/ 393,000 metro/ 165,000 regional viewers for last night, and compare them to the 753,000 national/ 559,000 metro/ 194,000 regional viewers. That’s another big thumbs down from viewers.

Even’s Nine’s The Block Glasshouse saw a weakish night and the program failed to top Nine News on the most watched list. The Block had 1.615 million national/ 1.055 million metro/ 560,000 regional viewers. That’s still a solid night, but not a killer set ‘gee gosh’ set of figures. The Bachelor and its Date Crashers ep (yes, fruit abuse!), failed to boost its figures — it had 836,000 national viewers last night, against 882,000 last Wednesday. The metro audience fell to 640,000 from 683,000, while there was hardly any movement in the regions where the audience fell just 3,000 from last week to 196,000.

Losers: Viewers of The Bachelor on Ten. It’s just the crassest, most insincere program on TV. Reality Check on ABC1. I thought it would be better than this. It doesn’t tell us much more than most viewers have already understood (or suspect) from watching reality programs over the years. Reality Check should have been more like The Checkout  (which is a reality check for retailers and product makers) in its analysis of reality TV.Metro news and current affairs:
