Nine’s night in metros and Seven’s in the regions as the audience again divided its preferences. Ten was fourth in both, behind the ABC. The Block Glasshouse dominated the night, topping the most watched lists in all markets. It had 2.234 million national/ 1.622 million metro/ 702,000 regional viewers. The live performance of The X Factor on Seven trailed badly with 1.868 million national/ 1.180 million metro/ 688,000 regional viewers (who again helped give the program a respectable set of figures).

But the reason Seven remained in the hunt and did well regionally (besides the support for The X Factor and Sunday Night) was the performance of Castle at 9.45pm. It won strongly with 1.025 million national/ 667,000 metro/ 357,000 regional viewers. In the morning, Seven’s Sunrise (the weekend edition this time) maintained its dominance over Today. Weekend Sunrise won by 95,000 viewers in metro markets. Today started its US trek this morning from New York. Will viewers notice? They had a hokey outside broadcast with a bunch of Australians, as the US morning shows in New York do.

Tonight The X Factor reveals the votes for each finalist in what is a big development for reality shows of this type. To be consistent, it will have to continue this in other programs that use public voting — but don’t hold your breath.
