My Kitchen Rules again monstered the rest of the line ups on other nights (with 2.127 million national viewers and almost 1.5 million metro), leaving Seven with another big win. Ten had another solid night (especially compared to its abject slide a year ago). The ABC’s much trumpeted drama, Hiding, managed 327,000 metro viewers  (520,000 nationally) tuned in last night from 8.30pm on ABC. A case of the audience being in witness protection and unable, or unwilling to turn on their TVs for fear of being forced to watch?

In the mornings, Nine’s Today with its cash offer (to go up against the Sunrise Cash Cow), has helped it to a competitive week up to yesterday morning when Today had another 300,000 plus national audience — still well behind Sunrise on Seven in the metros, and in the regionals where Sunrise dominates.

And on pay TV, the footy started for 2015 with the first of the NAB challenge games between the Hawks and the Wobbles – 180,000 people watched on Fox Footy. Desperates all of them who emerged from their anoraks and tents at dusk last night for the first time in months to gaze at their TVs and the bright gold and black animals dancing in the twilight gloaming from somewhere in Australia that’s not a well known ground.
