Kerthump! That’s the sound of Ten coming back to earth after the Sunday night boost from the final episode of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.  Hear that? It’s the high-pitched scream of triumph from The Beast (AKA My Kitchen Rules) after it had eaten another Monday night’s offerings from Nine (The Block was beaten by more than 1.3 million viewers, or well over 50%) and Ten (thrashed soundly). Only the ABC gave any cheek.

Seven won easily in metro and regional markets. The latter saw Ten end the night in a very weak fourth position with the main channel share only 7% — worse than the 10.1% in the metros. Seven won 7 to 7.30pm with Home and Away (second nationally with 1.502 million viewers), 7.30 to 9pm with My Kitchen Rules, and then 9-10pm with Revenge (1.069 million national viewers). Of course Seven swallowed all the demos as well.

Four Corners managed 1.118 million national viewers for a solid report on the recent Liberal Party leadership woes. There was a little bit of news, but the on air talent wasn’t standout. The leak in the Fairfax websites this morning from last night’s Cabinet meeting was far more telling about that the leadership problems of the prime minister and the government are ongoing, with no sign of easing. Four Corners struggled to bring out that point last night. Treasurer Joe Hockey illustrated the government ’s woes with another average performance on Q&A last night. He did say we should be having a “discussion” and not a “conversation” so I suppose that’s a small mercy.

Losers: Ten. the Neighbours 30th anniversary episode  at 7.30 pm on Ten for 90 minutes averaged 535,000 national and 426,000 metro viewers. Not good enough for all the free publicity it has received in recent weeks. Home and Away on Seven at 7pm was second nationally with 1.502 million viewers. Oh, for the heady days of Africa and those celebs. It must be boring in downtown Pyrmont, with the misery of being battered by The Beast, and the ABC and low ratings, again, with the main channel managing only a 7% share in regional markets.
