Normal service was restored last night. Seven released The Beast (AKA My Kitchen Rules) from the cave where it spent the past week and Easter, and it promptly ate the competition’s schedule. MKR had 2.054 million national viewers and over 1.4 million in the metros and more than 600,000 regional viewers. Seven won metro and regional markets from Nine, the ABC and Ten. Nine’s The Block performed OK with 1.4 million national viewers, but was well short of real success with less than a million metro viewers — even on a holiday Monday night. Seven’s Revenge is also losing its mojo. Its national audience last night was just over a million, with 651,000 of those in the metros.
Tonight Catalyst on the ABC takes a rest to allow Foreign Correspondent’s loss. While the latter is a top notch current affairs program, Catalyst, being the only science program on TV will be missed. Make sure you watch tonight’s episode.
Viewing over the Easter break was pretty average in terms of audiences and what was on offer, with sport dominating. The Hawthorn win yesterday was a big message to supporters of all other clubs (Carn the Swannies) that the 2015 flag is the Hawks’ to lose. The NRL brawl fest continued with the appalling Good Friday rubbish from Canterbury in their narrow loss to Souths. No wonder ground attendances for the NRL after five rounds are down by close to 15%.
