Nine’s night in the metros but not in the regions, despite a very solid night for The Voice which topped the night everywhere with more than 2.5 million national viewers, including 680,000 in regional areas. Ten was third in the metros, but fourth behind the ABC in the regions both overall and in the main channels.

Seven was simply weak last night and House Rules again depended on strong support from regional viewers. 1.540 million nationally was boosted to that position by 635,000 regional viewers — the 905,000 metro viewers was a below par figure. Masterchef Australia averaged 1.319 million national viewers, of those a weak 326,000 regional watchers. Grand Designs on ABC had more regional viewers (437,000) than Masterchef Australia. There’s a message in that.

The Wimbledon men’s final had 873,000 national viewers. The two hour time difference saw the tennis boost Seven in Perth, and to a lesser extent (the half hour difference) helped Seven get past Nine in Adelaide.
