That was a weak night for everybody (especially Seven as it finished third in the metros), but not for The Bachelor which was third in the metros and second nationally with 1.313 million viewers as fan fave Heather was flicked by The CAD (AKA The Rose Abuser). Nine trumpeted how well The Footy Show did — well, seeing its close to the season, it should have clicked by now and it only really did well with a boost from a reasonable audience in Melbourne of 333,000. It averaged 1.045 million nationally and should really be put down at the end of the season. And it is the start of the finals in both football codes, so The Footy Show should do well. The Chaser’s Media Circus return with 770,000 national viewers — 559,000 in the metros and 211,000n in the regions. Good to have them back.
In the regionals, Seven had a narrow win overall, but Nine won the main channels (because Seven’s offerings were weak). But The Bachelor again failed to ring many bells in regional markets and Ten had to settle for third.
In the Morning Sunrise again won with 367,000 metro viewers, but Today closed the gap, jumping to 343,000 people.
Sunday night represents Seven’s big come back chance after its mid-season blues. The X Factor and the first part of the Peter Allen story starts a big week for the broadcaster — and no Sunday Night.
