No sport and back to normal and Seven got a shock. The two hours and more of live performance for The X Factor failed to click in metro audiences. It failed to crack a million metro viewers and was beaten by The Block on Nine: 1.021 million to 948,000. Nationally, The X Factor did better with 1.494 million viewers to 1.446 million for The Block.

Seven and Nine shared the night in the metros, with The Block just ahead. Nationally, Seven did better thanks to a solid win in the regions. It was close in the metros in the main channels, with Nine just in front, but in the regions Seven was well ahead.

At 6pm though Seven News had another win in the metros with another rare victory in Melbourne over Nine News. Nine won Brisbane and Sydney, but Seven won Adelaide and Perth. Seven’s win was again due to the solid performance of the 5.30pm bit of The Chase Australia which had 628,000 metro viewers against Hot Seat’s 581,000. Nationally, the 5.30 bit of The Chase had 1.0354 million viewers, Hot Seat, 793,000.

At breakfast, Sunrise, 309,000 beat Today on 291,000.
