No wonder TV executives do it tough: here’s Seven with a poor showing in the metros — no real winners, even Sunrise was passed by Today, The Chase Australia at 5.30 pm had a good win over Nine’s Hot Seat, but not enough to help the 6pm news along the east coast, as it has been doing. But in the regions it was again another story with Seven the clear winner. That’s grey hair, no, no hair material for TV executives! Nine won the metros. Nine and Ten dominated the demos.

The Bachelorette managed 1.237 million national viewers. Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice made another appearance (I thought I would remind you). 777,000 national viewers including a weak 547,000 in the metros. In its own way it is as boring piece of TV as anything on the box at the moment. It is so staged, so much rubbish. The Block, The X Factor  and the Bachette are TV Tolstoy in comparison. Well, maybe not TV Tolstoy, but they have their moments. Celebrity Apprentice is one long block of TV concrete.

Gruen was OK last night, but predictable (do over the ads on AFL and NRL Grand Finals). It didn’t tell us anything we couldn’t realise from watching both games — there are a lot of ads, logos etc on the screen — but guess what. I thought the footy was pretty outstanding. And some of the ads used on Gruen seem to go on and on. (And I haven’t gone out and bought a Toyota, OK?)

Seven’s Sunrise slipped behind Nine’s Today in the metros, 339,000 to 322,000, but Sunrise won nationally.
