More games, another win for Seven. Foreign Correspondent’s report on east German drug cheating should have been run earlier, back to back with Catalyst (which could have used its time to explain the science behind drugs and doping in sport: from bike riding, to weight lifting, to shooting, running etc). A good one-two, but an opportunity badly missed by ABC News management. Foreign Correspondent had 625,000 national viewers at 9.30pm, Catalyst had 896,000 at 8pm.

Apart from that a quiet night. Seven won the metros and regionals again. Seven said there were 2 million streams yesterday and overnight with the total for the games so far now topping 28.2 million. Over 17 million people have watched the coverage on Seven’s three channels.

In the regions, Seven News was on top with 596,000, In Rio Today was second with 524,000, The Chase Australia 5.30pm was third with 497,000, ACA was fourth with 375,000 and the 7pm ABC News was fifth with 343,000.
