Australia’s most provocative new politician is throwing open the doors of Parliament House to give Crikey readers exclusive and unprecedented access.
Rookie Victorian Senator and multi-media veteran Derryn Hinch is keeping a diary of his parliamentary inauguration — and he’s sharing it with us. His weekly column — only for Crikey subscribers — will expose the inner workings of Parliament House, giving readers behind-the-scenes access to life as a first-term MP.
“The Human Headline” is one of Australia’s most recognisable personalities, with decades as a journalist, broadcaster, commentator and advocate. He promises to bring his trademark fearless honesty to Crikey.
“I am thrilled. Talk about a career swerve. Joining the Senate and Crikey in the same month,” said Hinch.
Never before has an Australian parliamentarian spilled the beans in real time on life as a lawmaker. That’s fitting, because never before has Australia had a parliamentarian like this one.
“Crikey‘s trademark has long been ‘telling you what the others don’t’,” said Crikey editor Cassidy Knowlton. “This exciting new series from Derryn takes that to a new level: rare insight into how Canberra really works, from a truly independent player prepared to give us the unvarnished experience.”
Hinch’s new column begins in Crikey on Thursday, August 25. Subscribe now to read every twist and turn.
