On Rod Bruem
Martin Gordon writes: Re. “Gay Nationals candidate pilloried for his sexuality at pre-selection meeting” (Friday)
When I read Michael Sainbury’s item about the appalling treatment of Rod Bruem during his preselection bid for Lismore I was totally lost for words. The only redeeming aspect were the comments of NSW National leader John Barilaro. I know Rod from when he worked at federal parliament.
I was greatly impressed by him and pleased to hear of his business success, success in his personal life and suggest he consider pursuing public office still. The Nationals have lost a great potential candidate for Lismore. Should he run I would wish him every success, it would be more than ironic if he won as his vote could become very consequential after the next NSW election.
On Tony Abbott and respectful debate
