The Losers: The Boss is Coming to Dinner, Nine, 9.30pm, 655,000. It’s not so much the rating, but the content.

News & CA: Sunrise came back a bit Seven. Today edged higher, but the wider gap remains between the two. ACA and TT duelled with competing stories about the Sarah Murdoch stuff. TT‘s effort was just a rushed spoiler. ACA just won Melbourne last night, lost the rest. Seven News won all five metro markets (Brisbane by nearly 100,000!) and nationally. Ten’s The 7pm Project again had solid figures, especially in the demos.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Thanks to Glee and The 7pm project, with an assist from house, Ten won the major demos, 16 to 39, 18 to 49s and 25 to 54s. Nine’s The Block again did well in the 25 to 54’s, but wasn’t that well liked by women over 35, compared with its standing in other demos. For Ten, it was a better night that Monday or Tuesday.

The Nine Network revealed today that it is sending the Australian version of Top Gear on a holiday until the Commonwealth Games on Ten are over. Top Gear will be back on October 19. Now that’s confidence in your program, or just being realistic because the local version is the weaker of the two. What many viewers will crave during the games is some non sports programming to watch.

7Mate continues to pick up viewers and had its strongest night so far last night. 7Mate skews to younger males, Gem towards women 30-35 and over. Younger males watch more TV than women plus 35, as the figures for GO shows. Added together the combined share of both Seven channels exceeded the combined share of GO and Gem last night.

TONIGHT: The final NRL Footy Shows on Seven (7.30pm) and Nine (9.30pm) in Sydney and Brisbane. Nine’s AFL Footy Show is back for a replay tonight at 9.30pm. It should be big.

The ABC has Love, Lust & Lies, the Gilliam Armstrong film on the three Adelaide women at age 47 at 8.30pm. Worth a look.

Ten has The 7pm Project and Bondi Vet. Rush should be a no watch area, as should Nine’s Cops L.A.C. Seven has the latest edition of The Amazing Race.
