Driscoll for parliament? Don’t you worry about that… Is Scott Driscoll — Retail Federation boss and long-time Labor Party Twitic — making a run for the Liberal-National Party at the next Queensland state election? As one tipster reports today: “A well-known powerbroker within the party, Driscoll has already been in touch with key members of the executive.”
So what does the man himself say? He channeled National Party hero Joh Bjelke Petersen in responding to Crikey: “Don’t you worry about that. We’ll see about that.” Read into that what you will.
…but the LNP is worried about other candidates. You have to wonder about embattled LNP leader John Paul Langbroek’s ability and readiness to govern. It seems Langbroek and the LNP in Far North Queensland can’t even organise their pre-selections for candidates. After running large advertisements calling for candidates and telling everyone they were would be announcing candidates this weekend, its seems to have fallen into a heap. It doesn’t leave you with a great sense of confidence in the alternative government.
Kristina offers congratulations. Am I right in remembering the First Home Owner Grant comes from the federal government? Then this is some very special political opportunism…
