Is the Government about to suffer a sleaze scandal of its own – in the state most vital to the election outcome?
The Courier Mail reports today that the “Federal Police have raided the offices of at least two Queensland MPs”. Liberal MPs. The plod have also visited a printer and a graphic designer:
Mr Laming last night confirmed the documents taken from his office during the Friday morning raids related to the printing of electoral material…
Owner of printing company Willprint, Jeff Williams, 49, said AFP officers seized computer records, including accounts.
Mr Williams confirmed that he does work for several federal Liberal MPs, including Mr Hardgrave, Mr Laming, backbencher Ross Vasta and Assistant Treasurer Peter Dutton…
Crikey understands that Willprint has very close Liberal links. Crikey – like all of us – also knows that federal MPs have bucketloads of taxpayer money available to them for printing purposes.
There’s now speculation in the Sunshine State that some of these funds may have splashed over – and been mopped up by the Liberal Party itself.
