Right-minded citizens will welcome federal Liberal MP Trish Draper’s attempt to clean up the televisual peep show that is Big Brother Uncut, as revealed in The Age today:
But we have a couple of questions: first, is this the same Trish Draper who found fame last year by running into travel rorts trouble on a taxpayer-funded trip with her boyfriend? “I am concerned about children in Australia,” says Draper.
Bravo. And what example did she set the kids – and the voters – by jaunting off on the public purse with her boyfriend last year? We musn’t punish people in perpetuity for their misjudgements, and Draper did subsequently pay back $10,000, but surely she makes an odd sort of morals campaigner. And how did The Age choose to illustrate their story? By publishing a freeze-frame nude action shot from the Big Brother shower all over its front page. Classy!
