The Winners: An easy night for Seven. Laid finished with 441,000 at 9.30pm for the ABC, which was its core audience. Adam Hills in Gordon St Tonight averaged 699,000, which is down to its core audience.

News & CA: Nine News won Sydney and Melbourne on very low figures, Seven won the rest, with Nine News in Perth (WIN) averaging just 68,000 last night. Today Tonight beat ACA in all five markets. The audiences for 6PM With George Negus and Ten’s Evening News eased back from the highs of Monday and Tuesday, but were still solid (for them).

  • FTA: Seven (3 channels) won with 33.5% from Nine (3), on 26.0%, Ten (3) was on 19.8% and SBS (2), 4.9%. Seven leads the week with 31.9% from Nine on 26.1% and Ten on 20.8%.
  • Main Channel: Seven won with a share of 25.6% from Nine on 20.9%, with Ten on 13.7%, ABC 1 was on 11.5% and SBS ONE was on 4.0%. Seven leads the week with 24.5% from Nine on 19.9% and Ten with 15.8%.
  • Digital: 7TWO and Eleven shared the night with 4.0% each, with 7Mate on 3.8%, GO on 2.9%, ABC 2, 2.6%, Gem was on 2.2%, One, 2.1%, News 24, 1.1%, SBS TWO, 0.9% and ABC 3, 0.5%. The 10 channels had an FTA share of prime time viewing of 25.1%. 7TWO leads the week on 3.9% from Eleven on 3.7% and 7Mate on 3.6%.
  • Pay TV: Seven (3) channels won with a share of 27.1% from Nine (3) on 21.1%, Ten (3) was on 16.1%, as was Pay TV (100 plus channels). the ABC (4 channels) finished with 12.8% and SBS (2) ended with 4.0%. The 15 FTA channels had a prime time viewing share of 83.9% last night, made up of 19.7% for the digital channels and 64.2% for the five main channels.
  • Regional: Prime/7Qld (3 channels) won with 33.7% from WIN/NBN (3) on 29.2%, SC Ten (3) on 17.1%, the ABC, (4) was on 15.3% and SBS (2) finished with 4.7%. Prime/7Qld won the main channels with 24.5% from WIN/NBN on 23.7%. 7TWO won the digitals with 5.1% from 7Mate and Eleven on 4.0% each. The 10 digital channels had an FTA prime time share of 26.1% last night. Prime/7Qld leads the week on 32.7% from WIN/NBN on 27.9%.

Major Markets: Seven won overall and the main channels in every market. In Melbourne it shared a win in the main channels with Nine, and in Adelaide the ABC and Ten shared third in the main channels. 7TWO won Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. 7Mate won Melbourne and Brisbane. Seven leads the week from Nine and Ten. Nine was surprisingly weak in Sydney last night.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Seven’s night, easily, again. Ten’s main channel’s audience last night was pitiful. ACA ran a report from Japan by Tom Steinfort just before he was withdrawn. It was a good report, the best this program has had this week. On 7.30, ABC radio and on the ABC News, Stephen McDonnell, Shane McLeod (another former Tokyo correspondent) and Mark Willacy continued to shine and to report.

TONIGHT: The AFL and NRL Footy Shows on Nine. Will the NRL show go any lower? Seven has its collection of female skewing programs, starting with Home and Away at 7pm and ending with Private Practice at 10.30pm. Ten has The Biggest Loser after The 7pm project. The ABC has some programs, watch the debut of Whites at 9.30pm perhaps?
