The Winners: The fresh returning episode of Offspring on Ten averaged 927,000 and did well in the demos. CSI at 8.30pm had half the audience Come Fly With Me did with 748,000 viewers. Nine’s audience had gone to Seven. The Amazing Race started strongly, as did the first episode of the US versions, audiences dropped away for that one, the big test is next week for Seven.

News & CA: Seven News had close win over Nine in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and bigger wins in Adelaide and Perth. TT lost Melbourne to ACA, but won the rest, including margins of 100,000 and 95,000 in Adelaide and Perth respectively where ACA‘s Sydney version is on the nose.

  • FTA: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 30.3% from Nine (3) on 24.8%, with Ten (3) on 24.1%, the ABC (4) was on 16.6% and SBS (2) ended with 4.3%. Seven leads the week with 32.1% from Nine on 25.1% and Ten with 22.2%.
  • Main Channel: Seven won with a share of 22.9%, from Nine on 20.2% and Ten with 18.5%. ABC 1 was on 13.5% and SBS ONE was on 3.6%. Seven leads the week on 25.5% from Nine on 19.1%, and Ten on 16.8%.
  • Digital: 7TWO won with a share of 4.6% from Eleven on 3.2%, 7mate was on 2.75, ONE was on 2.4%, GO was on 2.3%, Gem, 2.2%, ABC 2 was on 1.9%, ABC 3 and SBS TWO were on 0.7% each and News 24 was on 0.6%. That’s a FTA viewing share last night of 21.3%. 7TWO leads the week with 3.9% from GO on 3.1% and Eleven on 3.0%.
  • Pay TV: Seven (3 channels) won with 25.5%, from Nine (3) on 20.8%, Ten (3) was on 20.3%, the ABC (4) was on 14.0%, Pay TV (100 plus channels) was on 13.3% and SBS (2) averaged 3.6%. The 15 FTA channels had a 86.7% share of prime time viewing last night, made up of 18.0% for the digitals and 68.7% for the five main channels.
  • Regional: Prime/7Qld (3 channels) won with a share of 30.7% from WIN/NBN on 25.3%, with SC Ten (3) on 21.4%, the ABC (4) was on 17.6% and SBS (2) ended with 5.0%. Prime/7Qld won the main channels from WIN/NBN and SC Ten. 7TWO won the digitals from Eleven and 7mate. the 10 digital channels had a prime time FTA share last night of 22.3%. Prime/7Qld leads the week on 32.8% from WIN/NBN on 26.8%.

Major Markets: Seven won from Nine and Ten in Sydney and Melbourne. In Brisbane, it was Nine from Seven and Ten (they really liked Come Fly With Me up there). In Adelaide, Come Fly With Me was a one hit wonder. In Adelaide, Seven won from Ten and Nine overall, but Nine and Ten swapped places in the main channels. In Perth, Nine was on the nose and Seven and Nine were first in second with Nine a distant third. In the digitals, 7TWO won all five metro markets. Seven leads the week everywhere: Nine is second everywhere bar Perth where the WIN-owned Nine station remains very weak.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: I don’t know why the regional networks, WIN and Nine/NBN made a fuss over Come Fly With Me. Not as hard edged as Angry Boys on the ABC was last week, or looks like this week (tomorrow night). It did well in the big metro “regional” cities, such as Adelaide and Perth, owned by WIN, which banned it in the regions, along with NBN. A silly, short-sighted decision. Seven won All People, Ten says it won the major demos.
