It seems like only yesterday that Crikey was noting the masculation of BRW (it was Tuesday).
Now Crikey hears that some Financial Review insiders are nonplussed with the sexist winning entries in AFR.com’s “Write our next ad” competition.
With over 10,000 entries, a couple of the winning candidates do have a distinctly retro feel: In third place, “Show us your tips” and winner of the People’s Choice Award: “Gentlemen prefer bonds“.
The decisions were apparently made by a 15-person committee formed to judge the entries.
The brief asked for “short, sharp and clever” ads that would “resonate emotively with the audience and promote the benefits of regular readership.” Which makes you wonder where AFR readers’ emotions are resonating these days.
Crikey hears “Do my assets look big in this?” was a close contender.
