Get over it. God’s been round for ever. So have pollies chasing votes.

So what if the Prime Minister and Kevin Rudd addressed the Australian Christian Lobby?

This is what they both do all the time. They talk to groups that they think will help them get elected.

Sometimes these are direct pitches for votes. Sometimes they are more about perception and positioning. Sometimes it’s a matter of both.

Whatever the case, it’s nothing new. It simply goes with the turf. It’s part of politics. As is bitching and moaning about your opponents – or the people who hold views that are different to you.

That’s all that the complaints over Howard and Rudd talking to the ACL are.

Their speeches were pure politics – and so is the response.
