The Winners: Seven’s night, as has been the case this year on Sundays. Nine remained in front of Ten, which was weak apart from MasterChef, but then that’s Ten’s strategy.

  1. Seven News (6pm)  — 1.714 million
  2. Downton Abbey (Seven) (8.30pm) — 1.685 million
  3. MasterChef Australia (Ten) (7.30pm) — 1.604 million
  4. Nine News (6pm) — 1.588 million
  5. Dancing With The Stars (Seven) (6.30pm) — 1.515 million
  6. 60 Minutes (Nine) (7.30pm) — 1.048 million

The Losers: None really, except Nine really needs a major Sunday night program to contest the evening with Seven and Ten. Years ago it had it in 60 Minutes, but no longer.

Insiders is ahead in the morning. Julia Gillard was on Meet The Press on Ten at 10.30am and the audience hardly changed from the week before.

(All shares on the basis of combined overnight 6pm to midnight All People)

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Seven won All People in all metro markets and the main channels. GO won the digitals.

Sunrise won the week from Today, 364,000 to 342,000. The various episodes of MasterChef dominated the week for Ten along with Australia’s Got Talent, Downton Abbey and Dancing With The Stars for Seven.

The Block averaged 1.044 million over the five nights. Thanks to the extra viewers for The Block at 7pm and extra viewers through the night, Nine closed the gap a touch with Seven.

In the regionals, Prime/7Qld won All People from WIN/NBN and SC Ten. GO won the digitals for WIN/NBN. Nationally, Downton Abbey, MasterChef, Australia’s Got Talent and Dancing With The Stars all had audiences above two million viewers.

TONIGHT: The ABC’s hours of news and current affairs from 7pm.

The Block on Nine (will it return to the 1.3 million mark it topped the million mark on Friday night?). Nine also has Rescue Special Ops and then double episodes of CSI Miami.

Ten, of course, has MasterChef and Offspring. House is the final at 9.30pm. Seven has The Amazing Race. For those interested Home and Away goes to Hawaii. Do we care? But we do care (those tennis lovers and others among us) that Bernard Tomic is first up on 7TWO at 9pm from Wimbledon, don’t we?

Seven picked up Wimbledon after Nine said “no” because it was cutting costs. That’s Seven’s luck of the draw.
