The Glenn Dyer breakdown: A huge win to Seven. thanks to the Australian Open Men’s final. Did anyone stay the course until 1.30am this morning? What a marathon. Take a ticket and come back in the morning is my motto. The epic final had everything (I lasted two sets). At 1.15am to 1.30am, there were more than 1.4 million people still watching the tennis, an average of more than 1.2 million stuck around from 1.30am to 2am. Fantastic figures and dedication on the part of viewers.

New Girl on Ten averaged more than 1.2 million viewers in metro markets at 8pm and Homeland, from 8.30pm, had more than 1.1 million: both very strong efforts.

Young Talent Time had over a million viewers from 6.30pm, but down on the debut last week. Ten’s prime time audience was up more than 10% from last week, which, in the face of the men’s tennis final on Seven, was good going.

Last week, Seven won nationally and in the regions.

Tonight: Seven and Nine start their 2012 campaigns, catching up with the effort Ten put in last week for not much return.

Nine starts its fat shedding program, Excess Baggage, from 7pm to 8pm, then a fresh The Big Bang Theory episode at 8pm.

Seven returns My Kitchen Rules to the 7.30pm slot. This series is said by Seven insiders to cost $35 million! Seven has a new series called Please Marry My Boy at 8.45pm.

SBS has a new Mythbusters at 7.30 pm. The ABC is still in the tail end of its summer season.Lateline is back at 10.25pm and Lateline Business has been renamed The Business, and keeps host Ticky Fullerton at 8.30pm and after Lateline.
