The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Seven’s win last night tells us that One Day Cricket has exhausted its welcome with Australian viewers. Even though the final starts next Sunday with Australia playing in it, Nine couldn’t win the night. Why?

Because too many people chose to watch programs on Seven, Ten and the ABC. That meant Nine’s win a week ago was turned into a convincing loss last night.

Last Week: Seven, overall, main channels and the digitals in week two of ratings. Seven won all five metro markets, with big wins in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth quite noticeable, again. Much closer in Sydney and Melbourne. Seven had the top six programs in metro markets and nationally, and seven of the top ten as well. Nationally, Seven also had the first six programs, and seven of the top ten. Seven also won regional markets as well for the second week.

Tonight: News and current affairs on the ABC from 7pm, with the ALP leadership question and future direction to dominate. Question time on ABC 1 at 2pm will be worth watching if you read this in time. Seven has My Kitchen Rules and Revenge (no it’s not starring Julia Gillard this week). Nine has not much at all, Alcatraz is weak, when Nine thought it would be a winner. Ten has The Biggest Loser (which describes Ten’s current position). The Oscars are on GO! tonight after being on Nine’s main channel live during the day. The Allan Border Medal on Gem.
