The Glenn Dyer breakdown: My Kitchen Rules, again. End of night as Seven wins well.

The AFL Footy Show returned to a modest 270,000 in Melbourne, 10th in market on the night. The NRL version sank to 235,000 in Sydney (162,000) and Brisbane (73,000). It is going to be a long season for this program.

The first night of the Australian Swimming Championships on Ten at 7.30pm averaged a reasonable metro audience of 507,000 for half an hour from 8pm. It had more viewers in Sydney (211,000) and Brisbane (115,000) than The NRL Footy Show later in the night.

A further 293,000 people watched the titles on ONE at 8.30pm. A further 99,000 watched the update in the Ten News in Perth.

Nationally 848,000 watched the swimming, including the Perth audience in the Ten News there. Adding in the broadcast on ONE , a total of 1.141 million people saw the first night of the titles, a good example of how juggling time zones, daylight saving and the digital channels can maximise an audience for a particular program.

All up, a total of 919,000 watched the two Footy Shows on Nine last night: 643,000 in the metro markets and 276,000 in the regionals.
