The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Seven won the night, but it wasn’t very convincing. But a win is a win after the mauling of the past few weeks from The Voice on Nine.
Nine’s The Block averaged 1.408 million metro viewers and was number one in those markets. But not so nationally, the 2.008 million was only good enough for second behind Seven’s Packed to the Rafters.
Packed to the Rafters got strong regional support to be the most watched program nationally last night with 2.105 million (its best in 2012) for the final episode, with 1.371 million metro viewers and 734,000 regional viewers. Proportionately, that’s better support than from metro viewers.
Reflecting their fickleness the target audience of young female viewers went off Being Laura Bingle and its audience slumped to 782,000 metro viewers, from the debut figure of 925,000. Ten’s Bikie Wars finished with 1.026 million metro viewers (1.487 million nationally) for the final episode last night. Those figures weren’t much different for the second last episode. In effect the program finished with a whimper rather than a bang.
For me the highlight last night was the first episode of six on ABC 1 at 8pm called Race to London. Only 544,000 watched, but it was worth more.
Tonight: Randling on ABC 1, after Myf Warhurst’s Nice at 8pm. Seven has Australia’s Got Talent from 7.30pm. Ten has MasterChef, Offspring and House returns. Nine has The Block and RPA.
