The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Seven’s night, easily, as Nine’s Big Brother again dipped under a million metro viewers and Ten spent another night behind the ABC, the 24th night in the last 25 the network has been fourth.

Seven’s Home and Away easily beat Big Brother nationally and in metro markets. The winning margin was over 260,000, the largest since Big Brother started this season on Nine.

Tonight: Gruen Planet on ABC at 8.30pm. The X Factor on Seven at 7.30pm. SBS One has the first of a three part series on bears, Bears of the Last Frontier. Nine has the fading Big Brother and the weakening The Farmer Wants a Wife. Ten has another I Will Survive and then Puberty Blues.

The Losers: A long list: I Will Survive was the worst — 391,000 metro and national viewers for Ten. Smash on Seven at 9.30pm, The Big Bang Theory repeat and then Anger Management on Nine. The movie The Expendables at 9.40pm. Aptly named given that only 381,000 metro viewers (521,00 nationally) watched. Smash did very well in comparison.

Metro News & CA: Seven news and Today Tonight had a better night. While Nine News and A Current Affair won Melbourne comfortable, Seven News and Today Tonight won the rest, led by Sydney.

Metro FTA: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 34.0%, from Nine (3) on 23.9%, the ABC (4) was on 19.5%, Ten (3) ended with 15.9% and SBS (2) was on 6.6%. Seven leads the week with 31.5% from Nine on 26.2%, the ABC on 21.6% and Ten on 15.3%. Main Channels: Seven won with 26.1% from Nine on 17.7%, ABC 1 was on 12.3%, ten ended on 10.5% and SBS ONE, 5.0%. Seven leads the week with 23.4% from Nine on 19.9%, ABC 1, 14.8%, Ten was on 10.4%,  and SBS ONE, 4.4%.

Metro Digital: ABC 2’s coverage of the Paralympics won the night with a share of 5.7%, from 7mate on 4.1%, 7TWO on 3.8% and GO and Gem on 3.1% each. ONE ended on 2.8%, Eleven, 2.6%, SBS TWO, 1.7%, ABC 3, 0.9% and News 24, 0.7%. The 10 digital channels had an FTA share last night of a highish, 28.5%, thanks to ABC 2. ABC 2 leads the week with 5.1%, from 7TWO on 4.3%, 7mate on 3.9% and GO on 3.8%.

Metro including Pay TV: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 28.1%, from Nine (3) on 19.7%, the ABC (4) was on 16.1%, Ten (3) ended with 13.1% and SBS (2) was on 5.5%. The 15 FTA channels had total share last night of 84.6%. The 10 digital share was a highish 23.4%, the five main channels share a lowish 60.2%. Pay TV ( 200 plus channels on Foxtel) had a share of 15.4%, the highest of the week so far, thanks to the Dally M NRL awards on Fox Sports.

Major Metro Markets: Ten did a little better in some markets, but not much. Seven still won everywhere, with Nine second (overall and the main channels). the ABC and ABC 1 were third in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and third in the main channels in Perth. Ten was third overall in Perth and third in both in Brisbane. ABC 2 won the digitals everywhere bar Perth were ONE won. Seven leads the week everywhere from Nine and the ABC.
