The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Seven’s night, easily with Ten’s share falling as the quality of its offering returned to the now usual Monday night. Nine was its now usual weak Monday night. Tonight will be the same.

Seven’s The X Factor with more than 1.4 million metro and over 2.1 million national viewers dominated the night.

Big Brother on Nine was weak, just 867,000 metro viewers for the normal show (and 1.159 million nationally) and 993,000 metro viewers for the live nominations (1.316 million nationally). Seven’s Home and Away had 1.005 million metro and 1.448 million national viewers.

Ten was especially weak in regional markets, so much so that Seven’s main digital channel, 7TWO finished with a Free To Air viewing share of 7.5% which was bigger than the 7.2% that Ten’s main channel had last night.

Tonight: The X Factor on Seven and then Winners & Losers. Nine has a fresh episode of The Big Bang Theory and Big Brother. The rest can be ignored, as most of the audience will do. Ten has fresh NCIS and fresh NCIS Los Angeles. The ABC has Poh’s Kitchen lending a hand and then Rick Stein in Spain, and then a repeat of QI. For boomer readers, Bryan Ferry talks to Virginia Trioli at 10 pm.

If anyone is interested, the delayed figures for Sunday night show that in metro and regional markets, Seven’s Ahn Does Vietnam had 2.381 million viewers, Seven’s Sunday Night was watched by 2.292 million, Seven News, 1.146 million. The Bathurst 1000, 1.978 million and Ten’s Underground, The Julian Assange Story averaged a very solid 1.780 million.

The Losers: Ten, as Sunday night’s jump in viewers was reversed because of a weak offering. New Girl at 7.30pm, 439,000 metro and 561,000 national viewers. So much for “fast tracking” programs from the US. No matter how you pitch the sell, if viewers don’t like the program any more they won’t watch, as we have seen with this faded beauty and Nine’s Two And A Half Men and 2 Broke Girls (tonight). Ten’s Can of Worms at 8.30pm, 572,000 metro viewers and 748,000 nationally. Less than average. GCB on Seven after The X Factor, 539,000 metro viewers (and 802,000 nationally) said goodbye to this one off series.
