Nine’s night easily in metro and regional markets. The Voice did it with 2.641 million national / 1.895 million metro / 746,000 regional viewers , almost on its own for Nine. That’s down 280,000 viewers from its opening night. Seven marked time with House Rules, and MasterChef Australia’s second night saw a small fade of 20,000 viewers. It ended with 1.120 million viewers nationally, down from the 1.153 million on Monday night. It had 847,000 viewers in metro markets, down from 874,000 (and 272,000 regional viewers, which is a weak point). It’s still just good enough to keep Ten on the hook. Seven’s House Rules fell after the reveal on Monday night — its 951,000 metro viewers were also just enough to keep Seven happy, but the national audience was boosted by 607,000 regional viewers, which pushed it to a more than respectable 1.557 million nationally. It and The Voice continue to squeeze MasterChef, and that’s really Seven’s aim at the moment.

We’ll give MasterChef a week to settle down and how it looks next week. The problem as I see it is that it’s the same old stuff we saw before. It is no longer as interesting. Nine’s 6pm News won Sydney by 52,000, Melbourne by 145,000 and Brisbane by 56,000.
