Last night was again not the strongest bit of TV programming on offer if you didn’t like building, singing, or time travel. It was Nine’s night everywhere, thanks to The Block Glasshouse and then 60 Minutes and the News. The X Factor‘s live performance on Seven wasn’t in the hunt. It is starting to look like the last year of Australia’s Got Talent on Seven.

The Block Glasshouse just blitzed it last night with 2.336 million national/ 1.641 million metro/ 696,000 regional viewers. Seven’s The X Factor‘s live performance episode had 1.773 million national/ 1.115 million metro/ 658,000 regional viewers who again gave the program great support and offset its continuing weakness in the metros. There is nothing new for viewers in either programs — it’s the same old same old. Nine’s familiar material is doing better holding viewers than Seven’s familiar format. That’s the “reality” of modern reality TV — it’s all too familiar to viewers.

Dr Who returned at 7.30 pm on ABC for the repeat where it had 1.187 national viewers, and a further 260,000 early in the morning for the simulcast with the BBC in London. Ten was again left behind in metro and regional markets, especially at the main channel level.
