Seven’s night in both metro and regional markets from Nine, with Ten third in the metros and fourth in the regionals. The ABC was third in the regions and fourth in the metros. But it was just another night in summer as we could see from Home and Away being the most watched non-news program on the night. There are going to be severe withdrawal pains for the core audience when it finishes up tomorrow night over 90 minutes. Watch for the usual cliffhanger — a car accident, a bomb, a shark attack? The choices are endless.
In fact the storms threatening parts of NSW, Queensland and Victoria last night provided more amusement and entertainment from the noise and light show than from what was on the box. Now for the test cricket from today — here’s hoping. And don’t miss the last part of the Country/National Party doco on ABC tonight from Heather Ewart. A fine way to end the year.

Losers: Us viewers again. A weak early summer — although Home and Away is heading for a big end and I was reminded that the house on Grand Designs was wonderful. A lot of New Zealand accents on Seven though from 7.30pm for an hour. Nine has gone to sleep insofar as non cricket programming is concerned. Ten’s waiting for the takeover bid and the AGM next week (a week tomorrow).Metro news and current affairs:
