A quiet night of TV last night with The Voice the only standout, with the action this morning as Jason Day won the US PGA title. And yesterday the Australian netball Diamonds shone brightly and won another a third world title, and on Friday the Australian women’s cricket team thrashed England in the Ashes Test. These offset that thrashing of the men’s cricket team and the Wannabes in the Rugby Union test in Auckland on Saturday night.
The Netball Final had 799,000 viewers on free to air (515,000on Ten) and Fox Sports (184,000). For the second week in a row, a final of The Voice failed to crack the 2 million national audience mark. The 1.9 million was very solid, but you would have thought a mega format like The Voice would grab viewers on a weak night generally. Seven’s venerable Dancing With The Stars managed 1.155 million national viewers. It’s showing its age, but it’s still a trouper.
Nine won the metros easily, Seven won the regions, narrowly (and Nine grabbed the demos). The ABC was third and Ten was its now usual weak fourth in both metro and regional markets.
