Nine won the metros closely, Seven won the regionals convincingly. Ten was third (narrowly in the regions) and the ABC was fourth. Nothing stood out except one program on 7TWO (that’s my view).

That was the repeat of Foyle’s War (370,000 national viewers) on Seven’s 7TWO channel last night (it was on the ABC a decade or so ago) again confirmed to me that it is one of the best dramas produced anywhere in the past 20 years, tackling as it does the intersection of WW2 with UK civil society (an area the Americans have steered right away from, preferring to skip to the 50s and 60s via series like Mad Men). The acting is superior, great storyline and didn’t show its age (except that the now Inspector Hathaway from Lewis was the baddie last night and that was incongruous).

Believe it or not, after Cats, Dogs and Pets (last night) making us laugh out loud, next Tuesday night Seven has animals to make us laugh, no, watch. So all those loverly creatures in the wild will be on video/digital as part of Seven’s ratings spak filla that as proven to be effective (but nourishing?) So far cats have averaged 1.516 million national viewers, dogs, 1.716 million and last night’s pets, 1.504 million. Let’s hope Seven donates money from its ratings profits to the RSPCA and other animal groups, such as rescue organisations. That would be the proper thing to do. Pets was the number 2 program nationally last night.
