Nine and Seven shares the spoils in metro markets last night, sort of. Seven won overall, but Nine snuck home in the main channels and had a lock on the major demos thanks to The Block. But in the regions it was a very different story with again Seven an easy winner overall, in the main channels and in the major demos. Seven’s The X Factor ruled the roost in the regions and 507,000 viewers pushed the program to number one nationally with 1.481 million viewers, just ahead of The Block’s 1.402 million (it had a solid, not nowhere near enough 378,000 regional viewers). Seven News and The Block were the most watched metro programs with 1.024 million viewers each. Seven News with 251,000 viewers had another of its occasional wins over Nine News (239,000) at 6pm in Sydney.
The ABC’s strong news and current affairs line-up prevailed in both metro and regional markets, pushing Ten to fourth spot. In the mornings, Sunrise with 317,000 metro viewers started the weak with a rare (lately) win over Today with 298,000 viewers.
