Nine’s night in metro markets as the The Block (1.409 million national viewers and number one nationally and in the metros, but not in the regions) again dominated, giving Nine the win overall in the main channels and dominance in the major demos.

Seven News did well at 6pm, helped by The Chase Australia’s 5.30pm bit. Seven News had 1.003 million metro viewers against Nine News’ 985,000. But at 6.30pm, Nine News won with 961,000 to the 927,000 for Seven News/Today Tonight (TT in Adelaide and Perth). The 5.30pm bit of The Chase had 579,000 metro viewers. Hot Seat on Nine had 507,000. Seven News again won Sydney 269,000 to 253,000, but lost Melbourne by 63,000 and Brisbane by an embarrassing 60,000 (a big margin in that smaller market).

Gruen ended the year with 1.260 million viewers across the country and with the best episode of the series so far, so out on a high. Seven’s Blindspot had 963,000 national viewers and is a bit of a worry (all those tatts!) and Kitchen Cabinet on the ABC had 943,000 viewers and is also a bit of a worry (car racing). The Ex-PM on ABC managed 787,000 national viewers, but is not a worry, but good. Just imagine Shaun Micallef donning the pinnie and hopping off to some pollie’s house with a basket of goodies for a good chin wag?
