Overall, a night which bored the audience: Big Bash cricket on Ten, the first day and night of the Australian Open tennis on Seven and a collection of repeats on Nine (which won Total People and shared second with Ten behind Seven in the main channels) was hardly an inspiring offer for viewers. In the regions Ten won Total People and tied the main channels with Nine, with Seven not far behind.

The second session of the Big Bash had a national audience on Ten and ONE of 1.309 million, which is not to be sneezed. Seven’s Night session of the tennis on Seven and 7TWO had a combined figure of 1.079 million (for different games). Overall it was a win for cricket on Ten over the tennis on Seven and 7TWO.

Back Roads on the ABC stood out with a very solid 1.277 million national audience, making it the third most watched program on the night.
