My Kitchen Rules and the return of Criminal Minds did it for Seven last night: it won the metros, the regions, total people and the demos. MKR’s audience, especially in the metros (1.277 million) was low for this series. It averaged 1.943 million nationally. Criminal Minds returned with 1.103 million viewers nationally – a solid figure.

Seven’s 7pm stalwart Home And Away seems to have fallen in something of a hole in the past week or so. Last night’s 7pm metro audience of 691,000 was very low compared to the million or so it was getting at the start of this series. Nationally it had 1.184 million and finished fourth. That though was due to the very strong support from regional viewers where the audience was a high 492,000. That disguised the weakness in the metros. Is this the silly current storyline of hooded figures, guns, daughters and kidnapping? Jumping the shark?

In regional markets MKR was again the most watched program with 666,000 viewers.  Home and Away had a high 492,000; The Chase Australia (5.30pm), 408,000; Criminal Minds, 402,000 and Nine News, 382,000

Sunrise had a rare win over Today in the metros in breakfast: 322,000 to 298,000. Sunrise also won nationally. Seven News beat Nine in Sydney for a second night, 273,000 to 243,000. Nine won Melbourne and Brisbane, Seven won Adelaide and Perth.
