Seven’s night in metro and regional markets. Masterchef was the best performed non-news program in the metros, House Rules was nationally, thanks to its very strong support from regional viewers. The best program was Mad As Hell led by Shaun Micallef, a mild-mannered bomb thrower. House Rules had 1.392 million viewers, Masterchef had 1.251 million and Mad As Hell had 934,000. Ten did very well in metro demos.

Ten moved Shark Tank to last night and it did better than on Sunday night with 826,000 national viewers (616,000 metro/211,000 in the regions). That was nicely up on the 758,000 national viewers last Sunday night when 596,000 metro and 163,000 regional viewers watched.

Nine was once again undermined by the NRL Footy Show which could only manage 366,000 national viewers on Nine (231,000 in the metros). That sinks your night. The Sydney audience of 151,000 was the second highest audience of the season. The 80,000 in Brisbane was nothing to boast about though.

In regional markets Seven News was again top with 678,000; House Rules was second with 558,000, Home and Away was next with 500,000, Seven News/ Today Tonight had 478,000 and The Chase Australia 5.30pm on 465,000 was fifth.

In the morning Today had the narrowest of wins in the metro, 334,000 to 333,000. Nationally Sunrise won 571,000 to 486,000 for Today.

Rake tonight on the ABC, after the return of Kitchen Cabinet. It’s the finale of Gogglebox on Ten and there is no whale wrestling on Nine because we are in the first huuuuuge week of Origin which is whale wrestling on a huuuuuge scale.
