A mixed night and Masterchef stood out. Seven won total people in the metros, but Ten won the main channels (and the demos) while Seven finished up third with a weak post-7pm offering. In the regions, Seven also won total people, but finished second in the main channels behind Nine.

Masterchef had a very sold 1.534 million national viewers and ended third behind Seven News. In the metros, though, it topped the night.

In regional markets, Seven News was tops with 659,000 viewers, followed by Seven News/Today Tonight with 514,000, The Chase Australia 5.30pm, 498,000, Home and Away on 491,000 and Nine News with 454,000.

In breakfast, Today with 303,000 metro viewers won from Sunrise’s 300,000.

Tonight — Shaun M’s Mad As Hell — a must, must watch ahead of Saturday’s poll, and then The Chaser’s long desk lot straight after (not so “must”, but don’t miss). And then there’s Wimbledon from Brexitville on Seven for the rest of the night. And for all those romantic desperates who have been existing on reruns and Facebook groups, she’s back on Ten at 8.30 pm — Offspring is back.

In fact, it says a lot about how dull and boring most of last night’s offerings were when there’s more interest in what’s on tonight on the ABC, Ten and Seven (where’s Nine, oh, The NRL Footy Show — thin pickings).
