Tennis did it for a second night for Seven in the metros and regions, with Rafael Nadal proving to be as big a drawcard as Roger Federer. In fact Nadal and Federer are much bigger audience magnets than Djokovic and Murray. Dasher Gavrilova played her part with a fourth round loss in straight sets for another good effort. TV audiences and those at the match rewarded her effort.
So here’s hoping Nadal and Federer can keep going because of the pleasure they bring. Seven’s tennis attracted 1.322 million to the main channel last night, and a further 279,000 to broadcasts on 7TWO and 7Mate for a combined average of 1.601 million.
Federer is back on centre court tonight, so a big ratings win is on the cards for Seven, even though Ten has the first semis in the men’s and women’s Big Bash.
In regional areas, Seven News was tops with 527,000 people watching, Seven News/Today Tonight followed with 407,000, the tennis was 3rd with 369,000, then came ACA with 359,000 and Nine News was 5th with 352,000.
