Some more
Victorian Labor party membership details – old but enough to give you an idea –
this time from Simon Crean’s seat of Hotham. They give branch memberships on
the different levels of membership rates – lowest to highest – and finish off with a total:
Hotham Federal Electorate
Central | 16 | 8 | 3 | 8 | 1 | 36 | |||
Cheltenham | 10 | 7 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 23 | |||
Clarinda | 122 | 19 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 45 | |||
Clayton South | 54 | 16 | 8 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 82 | ||
Dingley Village | 1 | 1 | 2 | ||||||
Hotham West | 30 | 6 | 4 | 8 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 54 |
Hughesdale | 7 | 3 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 24 | |
Moorabbin | 9 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 3 | 19 | |||
Springvale | 27 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 33 | ||||
Springvale South | 18 | 1 | 19 |
Now,
Labor is the party of the worker and all that, but the numbers again seem
particularly skewed to members on the cheap rates. 67% of the membership was on a concessional
rate when this study was done.
The Clarinda and Clayton South branches. Cambodian
stacks from the right make up about a quarter of the membership in Hotham. No
prizes for guessing who controls these branches.
